VZW Is Not LFTI

One thing we knew when we set out to create a new webseries is that, whatever we were to come up with next, fans of our previous show, Life from the Inside, might not like it. Not only is VZW different in tone from LFTI, it’s an entirely different kind of show. It might be best to think of it this way: Life from the Inside was nine half-hour sitcom episodes. Vampire Zombie Werewolf is one ninety-minute webseries “movie.” How could these shows not be different?

Robb and Tanya and I love LFTI. It was great fun to write and produce (typical writing and producing headaches aside), not to mention awesome to act in, and we could do LFTI for the rest of our lives. But we have so many more ideas, so much more to experiment with and create. Since there are only three of us, there is no option to make both shows simultaneously. We may get back to LFTI in the future, but we can’t do it while also expanding our palette.

So as expected, we’ve been getting some sad comments here and over at YouTube from fans of Life from the Inside. Some of them are not too keen on this new show of ours. LFTI fans are very… fan-like. If someone is a LFTI fan, they tend to truly love the show. (That’s kind of the definition, huh?) In turn, we love them for their love! There’s a big wad of pride knowing our little show has a devoted following. But with a new show, we know we can’t please them all, and maybe we can only please a few. Once Vampire Zombie Werewolf is all wrapped up and the story has been told, we think we’ll have gathered a new cauldron of fans for this show. Hopefully, there will be a lot of LFTI fans among them.

The same love, care, attention to detail, and [OTHER OVER-USED MARKETING TERM HERE] that we put into LFTI has gone into VZW. It may be wearing different clothes, it may poke at different funny bones, it may have a different pace, its hair may be shorter or longer or whatever, but it’s certainly spliced from the same DNA. We hope everyone who loves Life from the Inside will end up recognizing this, and watch Vampire Zombie Werewolf with fresh eyes. But all we can do is make something we ourselves love, then let it free to carve out its own little cavity of love inside people’s hearts.

Damn… I was certain that the final episode would end with Mason waking up and saying: “Guys, you won’t believe the dream I just had about everybody!” And then he looks around the room and they are all wearing VZW t-shirts. Maybe it will happen. I will keep watching to see!

Look at that! It’s a new poster for the show!

Why did I make this? What prompted us to update our look?

That will have to be a story for having to be another day that’s not today. But today, I hope you like it!
